Dr. Paranal’s research is driven by a deep commitment to improving the lives of patients with cancer. He focuses on studying how alterations to chromatin—the components that determine which genes are turned on or off—contribute to the dynamic behavior of cancer throughout its evolution. Recognizing the current limitations in studying these complex responses, he aims to develop novel technologies that reveal chromatin changes across the spectrum of cancer development and treatment. Dr. Paranal utilizes these tools to study cancer in patients—the most relevant model system of cancer—to ultimately help them feel better and live longer.
