History of the division of hematologyClem Finch

The first Division of Hematology head was Clement Finch, M.D. (1915-2009) who received his bachelor's degree from Union College (1936) and his medical degree from the University of Rochester (1941). He epitomized the ideal of the physician-scientist.

History of the Division of Medical OncologyDon Thomas

The Division of Medical Oncology was founded in 1963 by Nobel Laureate E. Donnall Thomas, M.D., who also helped found the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Thomas developed bone marrow transplantation as a treatment for leukemia and other hematologic malignancies.
