Dr. Virginia Broudy served as Vice Chair of the UW Department of Medicine and Chief of Medicine at the Harborview Medical Center (2002-2018), Acting Hematology Division Chair, and Interim Chair of the Department of Medicine. She is an exemplary leader who was honored with the Thorud Leadership Award, the highest leadership honor at the UW. She also was awarded the Paul Beeson and Marvin Turck Awards for excellence in clinical care and teaching. For many years, she received Top Doctor recognition in the Seattle Met and Seattle Magazine. Dr. Broudy was President of the Western Society of Clinical Investigation, President of the Western Association of Physicians and served the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in several leadership capacities. Her early studies of hematopoietic growth factor biology led to her election to membership in the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI). Her more recent efforts focused on quality improvement and the care of complex and vulnerable patient populations.
