Research/clinical interests

Dr. Aaron Boothby is a blood specialist and researcher who studies rare genetic conditions that affect how the immune system works. His goal is to find more precise and effective treatments for people with autoimmune diseases that impact the blood. These conditions happen when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own cells, sometimes causing low levels of red cells, white cells, or platelets. Dr. Boothby cares for patients with a range of immune-related blood disorders, including immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), autoimmune neutropenia (AIN), and Evans syndrome, where two or more of these conditions occur together. He also treats people with immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP), common variable immune deficiency (CVID), and other rare inherited immune system disorders.
