Research and/or clinical interests  

Dr. E. Gabriela Chiorean's research focuses on the development of novel clinical trials for patients with gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancers, and identification of biomarkers to guide targeted therapeutics. Dr. Chiorean teaches and mentors junior faculty, oncology fellows, and residents, and has received many teaching and translational research awards. Dr. Chiorean is the principal investigator of multiple phase I, II and III clinical trials for pancreatic cancers and other GI tumors and has authored more than 100 peer reviewed articles in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Science, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research. Nationally, Dr. Chiorean is Chair of the Pancreas Cancer Research Team, Co-Chair of the National Cancer Institutes (NCI) SWOG Cancer Research Network Pancreas Cancers Sub-Committee, member of the National Cancer Centers Network Guidelines Pancreatic Cancer Panel, Vice-Chair of the NCI Gastrointestinal Cancers Steering Committee Pancreatic Cancer Task Force, and member of the NCI Gastroesophageal Task Force. She chaired several American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Scientific Committees for GI Cancers and Developmental Therapeutics and co-chaired the ASCO International expert panel for Late-Stage Colorectal Cancer Guidelines.
