Research and/or clinical interests

Dr. Mary Flowers’ clinical research has focused on long-term outcomes after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), with particular attention to studies of chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), quality of life and other late events. Her research spans from clinical trials to registry studies to cohort studies. She has been the principal investigator or co-investigator in several interventional clinical trials including multicenter randomized studies in chronic GVHD. Dr. Flowers is a world-renowned expert in the treatment of chronic graft-vs-host disease. She has been an advocate for providing the highest quality survivorship care for transplant survivors and their families, and works closely with primary care physicians to manage post-transplant complications as patients recover and resume their lives. Dr. Flowers’ contributions to the HCT survivorship field have reached national and global arenas, including training of a multi-disciplinary team.
